Our History
FOUNDED ON 9th SEPTEMBER 2016
The journey of Chaap Ki Chhap (CKC) is the same as the journey of its master that took off from Delhi and landed in Mumbai. Ameet Dawar, the owner of the brand hails from Delhi, the place from where soya chaap became famous. Looking at the craze of chaap among Delhites which later on became a rage in entire North, Ameet decided to bring this delicious food to Mumbai.
After several trial and errors and an extensive research of one and a half years, he came up with the concept and on 9th September 2016, Chaap Ki Chhap was established. Initially it began with a small Kiosk at 7 Bunglows (Andheri) in Mumbai. With increased positive response from the customers, specially the Vegan community, in a year’s span CKC moved out from the Kiosk and escalated to a casual dine format at 4 Bunglows (Andheri) followed by another outlet in (Ghatkopar East ).
With its lavish variety of delicious soya chaap dishes, CKC made chaap famous across the city and Mumbaikars too warmly embraced North India’s famous dish just like the North Indians.
Chaap Ki Chhap has been successful in carving a niche for itself in the vast Mumbai food market, especially among the Vegans and CKC food lovers are continuously increasing..
In 2018, CKC got nominated as the “Best Vegetarian Restaurant” in Mumbai for the first edition of Mid-Day’s “the Guide Restaurant Awards 2018” and was one of the top 4 finalists.
Chaap not only is a breather for pure vegetarians who have got tired of eating paneer on the special occasions, it is also a die-hard favorite of fastest growing vegan community that supports cruelty free-lifestyle. Non-vegetarians too relish the taste of chaap since the taste is quite close to non-veg food no wonder why it is fondly called as “Mock-meat”. CKC boasts about its vast range of jain, veg and vegan items with a 100% customizable menu.
Chaap Ki Chhap has been widely covered by various prestigious newspapers/journals/magazines and featured in blogs of several famous bloggers across the city. The latest coverage is in the Jet Airway’s inflight magazine “Jet Lite”, which is getting a lot of attention of travelers.
CKC’s food is not just amazingly tasty but also boasts of good health benefits. The chaap is customized to suit the palates of all from kids to aged, foodies to fitness freaks, vegetarian & non-vegetarians, jain, vegan et al.
“Chaap Ki Chhap” is a brand under Dawar Food which is further a subsidiary of “House of Talent”, solely managed by the owner Ameet Dawar.
CKC aspire to change the perception of people towards vegetarian / vegan food and re-define the term barbeque by promoting soya chaap as the future of healthy barbecue.
Owner’s Background
Ameet Dawar started his journey with a bachelor’s degree in hotel management in Delhi. After completing the degree, he worked as a manager in various top-rated hotels in the capital. He is the first one to make capital’s famous street snack a rage among Mumbaikars. For the budding vegan community, CKC’s vegan chaap’s, have become a blessing.
